"This course guides students through a full circular design journey — from archive research to final garment or textile outcome. Students will visit the V&A East Storehouse to explore fashion and textile collections, using these as inspiration for their own designs. They will then work with deadstock materials (including sourcing from Work and Play) and learn how to transform textiles through natural dyeing techniques before developing a final piece.
The proposed structure is 6 weeks, covering:
Circular design principles and material thinking
Archive research and observational drawing
Deadstock sourcing and concept development
Natural dyeing (plant-based, low-impact processes)
Garment or textile development
Final outcome and informal showcase"
