Interpreting is the process of conveying spoken words between English and a target language. Our community interpreting courses focus on interpreting in community settings in the U.K., including areas such as health services, education, and social services.
We offer Community Interpreting courses at Levels 1 and 3. They are accredited through portfolio presentation, with assessment based on coursework. Upon completion of the course, you will receive a certificate qualified by Acentis. There is no external exam for these levels.
This course serves as an introduction to the work of a community interpreter. It provides advice on gaining essential voluntary experience to facilitate progression to higher-level courses. This course is suitable for those with little or no interpreting experience or anyone interested in learning more about this field.
To enrol on this course, you must have some experience—paid or unpaid—in interpreting within a public sector context in the U.K. You will develop the skills and knowledge necessary to work as a community interpreter, including understanding the role of the interpreter, professional conduct and codes of practice, and knowledge of the relevant sectors. This is a blended learning course that includes online sessions on Sundays.
