Learn how to make clothes from commercial patterns. You will construct a toile in calico from a basic skirt/trousers and bodice block to get the perfect fit. You will learn to lay and cut your fabric along with a range of sewing techniques to construct a simple garment of your choice. Term 1 - Ladies skirt/men's trousers. Term 2 - Ladies trousers (men's trousers). Term 3 - Ladies day dress (men's shirt).
This course will teach you the essentials of flat pattern cutting such as how to lay a block on paper and to make pattern adaptions to realise your own designs. This course has different elements in each term.

Ever bought something and thought to yourself 'What If?' ….Well here is your opportunity to make that 'What If' possible. Learn a few tips and tricks to creatively recycle your old clothes, or simply alter them to give you an individual look and comfortable fit. Places are limited so sign up as soon as possible. Learn and develop the skills and techniques for various knitting projects. We will look at both traditional skills and contemporary ideas exploring the usual and unusual aspects of working with yarn. All levels of experience are welcome each term.

This Emboidery course has been designed to accommodate absolute beginners and is perfect for those who want to be inspired and get creative. No embroidery skills or experience is needed but basic hand sewing skills would be an advantage.
Explore and experiment with a range of print techniques onto fabrics. Develop print designs from visual research. Print your own fabric and small products: e.g tote bag, scarf, cushion, upcycled garment, T shirt. Develop prints for art textiles. Term 1: Block Print and Dyed Textiles, Term 2: Screen Printed Textiles, Term 3: Mixed Media Textiles.
Spend a day getting to know the sewing machine and how to use it more effectively. Once you have completed this course you can sign up to one of our longer sewing courses to develop your skills.
