Learn the skills and techniques for knitting and crochet. We will look at both traditional skills and contemporary ideas exploring the usual and unusual aspects of working with yarn. All levels of experience are welcome each term. Term 1: Learn the techniques through sample making and completing small projects. Term 2: Explore different yarns including making your own to use in projects. Term 3: Develop your skills and techniques, working on more challenging personal projects.
If you would like to get started with a sewing machine but don't know where to start, this is the course for you. Come and learn the basics of a sewing machine to enable you to take on your own projects: how to thread the machine, wind the bobbin, basic settings, and basic trouble shooting.

This Emboidery course has been designed to accommodate absolute beginners and is perfect for those who want to be inspired and get creative. No embroidery skills or experience is needed but basic hand sewing skills would be an advantage.
This is a higher level course is aimed at pattern cutting/fashion students who have attended classes for at least three terms.
Learn how to make clothes from commercial patterns. You will construct a toile in calico from a basic skirt/trousers and bodice block to get the perfect fit. You will learn to lay and cut your fabric along with a range of sewing techniques to construct a simple garment of your choice. Term 1 - Ladies skirt/men's trousers. Term 2 - Ladies trousers (men's trousers). Term 3 - Ladies day dress (men's shirt).
Spend a day getting to know the sewing machine and how to use it more effectively. Once you have completed this course you can sign up to one of our longer sewing courses to develop your skills. This term long course will show you how to make your own pattern that you can use time and time again.
