This Emboidery course has been designed to accommodate absolute beginners and is perfect for those who want to be inspired and get creative. No embroidery skills or experience is needed but basic hand sewing skills would be an advantage.
This course will teach you the essentials of flat pattern cutting such as how to lay a block on paper and to make pattern adaptions to realise your own designs. This course has different elements in each term.

Learn how to make clothes from commercial patterns. You will construct a toile in calico from a basic skirt/trousers and bodice block to get the perfect fit. You will learn to lay and cut your fabric along with a range of sewing techniques to construct a simple garment of your choice. Term 1 - Ladies skirt/men's trousers. Term 2 - Ladies trousers (men's trousers). Term 3 - Ladies day dress (men's shirt).

Term1: Traditional and contemporary patchwork and quilting techniques. Term 2: Using appliqué in patchwork and quilting, Term 3: Using stitch and embellishment for patchwork and quilting.
Spend a day getting to know the sewing machine and how to use it more effectively. Once you have completed this course you can sign up to one of our longer sewing courses to develop your skills.
