We are passionate about the idea that we can keep on learning throughout our lives and specialise in courses for adults from 19 to 90. We have been doing this for over 100yrs and are one of London’s Specialist Institutes for Adult Learning. Courses run in the daytime, evening or weekend, meaning you can fit your learning around the rest of your life.
The Mary Ward has a reputation as ‘the friendly place to learn’ – this is because as well as getting first-rate teaching, we also offer the support and encouragement you need to help you get the most from your course. Our groups are characterised by mutual respect and the understanding that as adults we will all learn from each other. Lots of folk tell us that they really value the extra umph that learning in a group gives them being on the journey together adds camaraderie, mutual support and oftentimes friendship and fun.
Courses are taught at all levels, from introductory to advanced, by experienced well-qualified tutors who are most often practitioners in the subject they teach. For courses that carry qualifications we make sure that they are the right ones that have currency with employers and for progression to higher level courses.
Our sites have really good transport links so people come to us for courses from all over London and beyond and if you can’t get to us we also offer courses on line.
People want to do courses for many reasons, maybe you need new skills to get work, to change career or to support your family or community. Alternatively, you may have long wanted to take up or develop an interest in a subject or you are looking for an activity to increase your health and wellbeing.
Maybe you would like to meet new people with a common interest. Whatever your reason for taking a course we hope that you will find just the right thing for you and look forward to seeing you soon.
