Qualifications & Professional Practice

These courses provide an opportunity to build your skills and further develop your interests and talents in the Visual Arts or prepare for university entry at BA or MA level.  You will work in supportive and friendly group environments with the guidance and tuition of experienced tutors who are practising artists, makers and creatives themselves.  Mary Ward can also offer additional learning support to those who may need it and bursaries are available to those in financial difficulty.  If you are interested in the Pre Foundation or Foundation courses you will need to attend an interview with a portfolio of work.  For more information and to apply contact Departmental Administrator, Rahul Miah: Tel: 020 7269 6042 Email: rahul.miah@marywardcentre.ac.uk.

L3 Foundation in Art & Design

This is a one year Diploma course, grounded in studio practice and aimed at those considering Higher Education studies in art and design. We are still accepting applications for this academic year. Our Art Foundation offers the chance to gain a BTEC 540 Diploma in Art and Design Practice and focuses on critical awareness, creative abilities, and building practical and theoretical skills. Your hours spent in our well equipped studios will give you the opportunity to experiment widely and take creative risks in order to develop a broad portfolio of work and professional behaviours required for progression. It also provides opportunities to develop art, design and media skills over the course of study through a process of self-direction, reflective practice and communication, which are key skills for progression to higher education and personal development as an artist. These requirements mean that learners develop the transferable and higher-order skills that are demanded by universities and employers. A student loan is available for this course.
