  • Course Overview

This welcoming jewellery-making course is suitable for both beginners and more experienced makers, offering a supportive studio environment where you can develop your skills at your own pace.

If you’re new to jewellery making, you’ll be guided step by step through the fundamentals, learning how to design and create a finished piece. You’ll be introduced to essential techniques including sawing with a specialist jewellery saw, drilling, soldering, filing, shaping, texturing and polishing metal. Teaching is structured in clear stages, with demonstrations, handouts and suggested online resources to support your learning.

If you already have some experience, you can make full use of the workshop facilities and professional equipment—such as soldering and polishing tools you may not have at home—while benefiting from tailored advice and top tips. One-to-one guidance is available to help you refine techniques and progress your own projects to a higher standard.

At the start of the course, Sally will spend time with you discussing your ideas and designs, helping you identify the most appropriate techniques to achieve your goals. Throughout the course, you’ll receive ongoing feedback in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere that encourages creativity, experimentation and shared learning.

By the end of the course, you’ll be able to:

    • Design and plan jewellery pieces using appropriate or advanced techniques

    • Confidently cut, drill, solder, file and polish metal

    • Identify and apply the right techniques for your chosen designs

    • Complete one or more pieces of jewellery to a good or high standard
