Do you have a smartphone and want to understand how to make the most of its camera for photography? Are you using the different functions of the camera on your device fully? No longer is it so necessary to have a camera and a smartphone. On this course, get to grips with the functions of your smartphone camera as well as the help you need with composing, editing, saving and sharing photographs.
This course is for anyone who would like to learn about their smartphone camera and is wondering whether it can take the place of their digital camera. You will be interested in learning the photography functions of your smartphone and improving your photography at the same time.
- The types of lenses on a smartphone camera and what they do
- How to focus the camera and get creative with selective and soft focus
- How to take control of the exposure level for more creative photographs
- How to use the ?live? function, including for long exposure images
- Learn different ways to make panoramic photos
- What does the HDR setting do and when it is best to use it
- The use of filters, editing and what all the different setting means
- Pixels and data when sharing / storing photos to the device or cloud
- Learn about using Apps for editing and sharing your photos
By the end of the course, you should be able to:
1. Understand how to take better composed photographs with your smartphone camera
2. Understand what the different settings do and when to use them in different situations
3. Understand how to edit your photos using different Apps as well as options to save and organise your images to the device or cloud.
4. Create a portfolio of creatively composed photographs that you can review in class and share with others.
During this course you can expect to be taking a lot of photographs and learn new techniques as you get to know the functions of your smartphone camera. The tutor will give presentations and demonstrations and there will be practical photography sessions with time to review and discuss photographs and ask questions.
You will need an Apple or Android smartphone and be able to transfer your photographs to a computer or learn during the course how to do this.
If you decide to continue photography and get a camera you can enrol to study another digital photography course, either the Introduction or Intermediate courses or the practice--based Digital Photography in the City course. Talk to the tutor about which is most suitable for you.
