Sculpture: Creative Processes

Get creative with this enjoyable, experimental and imaginative sculpture course where you will learn a broad range of techniques to realise your project. Work with Ceramics, Wirework, Metal, Wood and Found Objects. Work independently or follow set projects. Whether a beginner or experienced come and enjoy the process of making.
  • Who is it for?

    Students of all levels can join the class, as the aim is one of supporting the individual to progress their own ideas or art practice in a supportive environment.

  • What does it cover?

    This course aims to aid students to identify their areas of specific interest within a sculptural way of working to help them build a more personal sculptural language and progress to discover a deeper motivation in a supportive environment. Methods include drawing on contemporary, historical and pan cultural artists and artworks, there will be set projects for the less experienced and individual tutorial support. This practical course will encourage the making of sculpture using raw materials, as well as supporting a found object methodology and include practical inductions where necessary. Class discussion and towards the end of the course, documentation of the artworks will be explored together with ideas about installation culminating in a class exhibition either online or if possible in a real space.

    By the end of the course you should be able to:
    1. Identify your area of artistic interest
    2. Be aware of contemporary artists working in a similar way
    3 Gaim greater technical knowledge of one or more sculptural ways of working
    4. Be able to document and talk about the work produced.
    5 .Work towards developing work for a group exhibition?

  • What will it be like?

    Teaching methods: Visual demonstration and verbal explanation. Written handouts with visual diagrams. One-to-one teaching. Group discussions
    Learning methods: Hands-on practical activities, Reading handouts and following instructions.
    One-to-one and group discussion.
    How students are assessed: Questions and answers during group discussions and one-to-one teaching.
    Record of students' progress and achievement on an assessment sheet as they achieve the course objectives. Practical work produced is evidence of learning.

  • What else do I need to buy or do?

    Most basic materials to begin a project will be included and the tutor can advise on more specialist materials required
